New Boenninghausen Repertory - Method

Post by artybergman »

If anyone is using this repertory, I have a question about a point to
do with remedy selection on p16, as follows: "regarding any
contradictions between the case of illness and the remedy under
consideration, the distinguishing features of an illness must not be
contradictory to the distinguishing features of the prescribed remedy.
Thus, Aconite will seldom or never effect either a rapid or permanent
cure in a patient of a quiet, calm, equable disposition ...". Now,
the way I thought I'd read the Therapeutic Pocketbook Method' was that
the patient symptoms selected for repertorisation should only be
symptoms that represent the change away from the patient's healthy or
usual state of being, ie those selected symptoms represent the disease
which needs to be addressed homeopathically, and not any symptoms that
represent their healthy state. On my understanding (or
misunderstanding)choosing symptoms then that represent only the shift
away from the healthy state will mean that a patient who, in their
ususal healthy state being quiet and calm, and remaining so in their
disease state, cannot expect Aconite to cure them even if Aconite
addresses their symptoms in every other way?! If my understanding of
the notes on p16 referred to above are correct, then it seems to
follow that it is not sufficient to select symptoms that represent
only the shift away from the patient's normal healthy state. But if,
on my understanding of the note above being correct, then how does
one prescribe Arnica for a simple bruising and expect it to work if
the patient is not exhibiting Arnica's mental or general symptoms?

That is wone reason hy some people get dissapointed in homeopathy.
There are very, very few specifics. Arnica comes close but even that
is not a specific for bruising. You will find the same with Hypericum
and nerve pain - it often does nothing. Individualising is always
important.
