Hello All,
Rosemary Oil smells very much like Camphor.
Do you think it will affect the remedy?
I'm thinking it's NOT Camphor but it does smell like it.
I have someone that uses Rosemary Oil and I don't want her to ruin the
remedy.
any thoughts?
Thank you Emily
Essential Oil-Rosemary
Re: Essential Oil-Rosemary
Hello, Emily -
Rosemary oil has (as you well know, I am sure) an antibiotic and
cardiotonic effect. It is a MAJOR stimulant, with a very pervasive odour.
So, one would assume it would be a "no-no".
But I don't really know; nobody does for sure, it seems.
Chamomile is also supposed to be avoided. Why? I suppose it would be
for the same reason as Camphor or the great "Nemesis" of homoeopathic
remedies: Peppermint.
On the other hand, there are those who say (quite reasonably, it
seems) that foreign substances - including caffeine - shouldn't really
affect the higher potencies.
Bottom line: we don't know. not for sure - not 100&.
Good luck!

Re: Essential Oil-Rosemary
I've seen Rosemary Oil cause problems with remedy action. In general aromatherapy oils don't go well with homeopathy in my experience (and I trained as an aromatherapist!). The only one I haven't seen throw off a remedy is Lavender when used in first aid - but this is rambling off topic. Where a patient is very into aromatherapy oils I ask them to stop for a week or two, and then ask them to stop for another week and another...

Re: Essential Oil-Rosemary
thank you for the honesty vera.
i was in touch with a naturopath a while ago who sold young living
essential oils.
now these oils may not be as potent as those used in aromatherapy.
he swore they didn't interfere with homeopathy but i always doubted him
especially with the strong smelling peppermint oils.

Re: Essential Oil-Rosemary
Hahnemann warns against the use of perfumes and strong odors like
flowers in a room. Many essential oils are antibiotic and if you go
by the claims of aromatherapists they also have other medicinal
properties.

Yes, they do - I myself can vouch to that.
The only "miracle" (and believe me, I don't use the word lightly) that
I've seen in my entire life - counting those of which I was aware,
obviously - was the effect of certain essential oils on the skin (of
more than one person). Once the initial bottle of the mixture was used
up, the effect somehow couldn't be replicated - not to the same
"miraculous" extent of the original batch, that is. But that's a
different story altogether.
I've been in aromatherapy for more than ten years now (and make all -
i.e. not very many
- of my "cosmetics" myself), so I know what a
huge sacrifice can be is to dispense of essential oils. Used properly,
they can have a huge positive impact on a person's health and beauty.
So... yes, giving up EO can be a huge predicament.
