Hahnemannian Homeopathy

Post by Luise Kunkle »

Hi list,

What would a Hahnemannian homeopath give in the paper case below?

******

male, 56 yrs old, waiter, has lived in India for 18 years.

Has been asthmatic for the last 2 years, after a bad cold. Got wet and
left left himself to dry with his suit on, in the evening fever, since
then spasmodic asthma. For the last 6 months he has had squeezing
pains in the back and at the loins, which are ameliorated when he
feels hot or when he gets hot walking. The pains are aggravated in a
car. Since he has had those pains he no longer is asthmatic, but is
handicapped in breathing by the pains in his back, which he has had
for 9, 10 months. During the night he has to move, good digestion,
good appetite. Does not drink alcohol.

*******

Regards

Luise

Hi Robin,

Thank you for replying. The other readers of the list probably thought
the questiion too trivial, too unworthy of a list pursuing as mainstay
classical homeopathy.
The problem is: This is one of Hahnemann's Paris cases, first case-
taking (Krankenjournal DF 5, 1837-1842) patient Mr. Thomas Warden. It
was taken on June 3 1837 and is *quite* typical for Hahnemann's
practice. (Hahnemann prescribed Sulphur.)

It shows the problem of defining *good* homeopathy and even more so of
defining classical or Hahnemannian homeopathy.

If that new list Sheri talked about is going to materialize, they had
better call it something like "Neo-Kentian Homeopathy", not
Hahnemannian. Not classical either: v. Boenninghausen did not treat
the way Sheri et al. consider the only proper way, and if ever anyone
should read Hering's "Homeopathic Domestic Physician", he/she will be very
surprised. And it would hardly make sense to call Hahnemann, v.
Boenninghausen and Hering non-classical homeopaths:-)

Well, I have a reply "in progress", but here's the gist--I too would
need lots more information to prescribe on, but am interested in seeing
what I *could* make out of what's presented. I was trying to turn some
of the bits into rubrics, and haven't got there yet. (The thing about
bad cold after not changing out of wet suit, for instance.)

Then I was going to say--since it's a "paper case", does that mean that
it has an "answer"? :-) Something was given, and it worked? If so,
I would love to hear the "what-and-why"!
We've got chaos again today, so this is probably all the responding
I'll get to do for a while, but interested to hear...
Shannon

Dear Luise and all

Well, I don't know how Hahnemannian I am but... ;-)

Treat the etiology is my advice.

Aconite is the first thing that came to mind, as it's what I would have given to someone who caught a cold from getting stuck in the rain.

Hi Sheri,
That's right. Too bad. I should really like to meet you some day - I
admire you no end for throwing up all you had and following your
ideals. England is not so far from here, so who knows - one day I may
knock at your door:-) I am almost sure there will be a lot of things
we agree about just enough to have a very interesting conversation
Btw. I do at least know what you look like - remember you linked to a
picture one time?
