urticaria - treating family

Post by Ellen Madono »

Hi,

My husband worked in the garden and now has urticaria (red raised spots
about the size of and M&M on cool white skin). (No oozing and no connection
between spots except for the area that he scratched on the neck that is very
raised and angry looking) Worse warm, perspiration better cold
application. Irritable. I am unsure if I should have continued the Anac.
I used it for a about 20 hours with just a little change. Should I be
expecting more change? The arm spots became more defined just after I gave
him the Anac 200c. The redness seemed more generalized before. He is so
irritable, it is hard to tell if he is doing better. He does not want to
admit he is doing better.

The spots are on the inner arm. They are coming out on the exterior harder
skin of the arm but not so itchy looking. You can feel them under the skin
but they are not red.

I gave him Silca 200c in the middle of the night because he was
complaining. Probably made it worse, but hopefully it will speed up the
process by bringing the toxins to the surface. Silica is also a plausable
general remedy. He is wheeling and dealing on the phone. Gets off and asks
me if his English is ok. It is superb, but he is never sure. He had
exposure to TB as a child and I am worrying about opening up old
encapsulated bateria using the high potency (200c) Silica.

I wanted to give him a moxa treatment just to speed up the lymph system,
but he was totally opposed to heat.

The uticaria seems to come from some catepillar. The affected areas were
completely covered except for the neck where he is suffering the worst.

I am trying to pursuade him to stay away from anti-itch creams and
anithistamines, but it is a hard sell. He has already had Menier's disease
from skin suppression, but since homeopathy cure it, he is unimpressed by
the connection that I draw. Family homeopathy is a pain in the neck.

OTHER IDEAS FOR GENERAL REMEDY
We are dealing with my senile father-in-law. My husband is very short
tempered with him. Never directly rude, but yesterday he kicked the chair
because he father said some very rude thing that is totally predictable for
his senile state. This 60 year old son can't give up childhood grudges
toward his 94 year old father. I have been eyeing Lyc for many such mental
symptoms. The last time I gave him Lyc, he had a Little Napoleon type
temper tantrum. Calc-sulph has worked for abcesses in the past. Lots of
Calc and Sulph symptoms. Arg-met chased away the Menier's diseaes. Very
much the king's loyal minister or the geisha (he is an engineer type-sales
person. The brains and social butterfly of a small company).

Please critique these probably misguided thoughts. Treating family gets
totally disorienting.

Blessings,
Ellen

You have my sympathy. Family is so hard and one looses patience at
their reluctance to help you with the modalities. Wonder as better
with cold about Apis. If they were due to bites ?/ Ledum or Staph
or Caladium. Apis busy ,borrows trouble, related to Nat Mur [old hurt]
I think and also look on it as a grief remedy. Kindest Regards ,Jean

If it is >> some kind
of cold application - bryonia and kali iod particularly have hives <<<
around the neck area.

personally I don't think one should treat family if it is found to be
such a problem, you won't be doing the best for them if you cannot be
objective, get a colleague to take the case instead

best wishes, Joy

Ellen,
You are dealing with a difficult situation with the family interactions, and finding the best remedy may require an outside perspective. But I'll respond to the skin issue after gardening since you believe it may be due to a catepillar. Following the last 8 hurricanes and the number of people outside doing 'clean up' work that were never outside much before - we had a large number of strange skin problems that did not respond to the normal 'first aid' homeopathic remedies. The most severe were raised areas that we finally believe to be from a catepillar (after eliminating the usual ant, spider, mosquito, etc.) Of course it is not a sting, but brushing against hairs that contain very potent chemicals. In our case in South Florida they most likely were from a saddle back catepillar that is virtually invisible in brush and debris, and gives a very nasty acid like burn. The entire reaction takes place under the skin, and the outermost skin does not show any break, entry, puncture, etc. The area reddens, swells, and burns like an acid burn - spreading if scratched. Many (not all) experienced a very deep blister in the area as time went on - the blisters becomming visible 3 to 6 days after the initial irritation - symptoms lasted 2 to 4 weeks. As you can imagine, everyone was still outside working - so between scratching and the occasional scrapes - the blisters were fequently opened and secondary infections were a concern. We tried everything. Two people reacted well to Formica Rufa- having almost immediate relief, but most never found any relief short of cold applications and time. Even those able to control the scratching in the day would scratch the areas in their sleep. Calendula cream helped keep the skin clear in many cases. I had it on one hand and around the neck. The neck healed in about 2 weeks. The hands were constantly re-injured in the clean up activities and while the acid pain began to reduce in about 3 weeks for me, the scars are still evident after a year.

I understand that you described a situation where the irritibility may be from multiple sources - but from experience I can tell you the constant unrelenting pain of a chemical burn will make one irritible even if in the best of circumstances. Keep trying.

Dear Ellen
Urticaria followed by working in the garden, please consider Echinacea. It has always given good results.

Irritability with urticaria - Bovista
Make sure this irritability is << after this urticaria?

Hmm. My mind did not go in any of those places. The uticaria is drying
up. Uticaria that itches is so irritating anyway. I don't think I can use
that mental symptom. Dulc is really interesting. The cold modality is
really the best one.
Since it spread over a wide range of his body, it can't be a simple bite.
It has to be an allergic reaction.
Last night I gave him a shiatsu (where he did not have uticaria) and that
with the moxa seemed to help him calm down.
Thanks everyone for your help. I agree. i am short tempered with family.
Blessings,
ellen
