I'm new and have a question about St. John's Wort

Post by Leslie Cider »

Hi, I'm new to this group and wanted to introduce myself. I have had Chronic Fatigue Syndorme for the last 15 years and it spurred me into researching natural alternatives to many of the chemicals that were being prescribed to me.
I also have a question about St. John's Wort. I know that when you're taking it you shouldn't be out in the sun, but does anyone know why? What are the side effects if you do?
Thank you all in advance!

Dear Lesley,

Firstly I would like to explain that this is a homeopathic list not a herbal one and St John's Wort is a herbal remedy.

I believe St John's Wort makes the skin more susceptible to burning by making it more sensitive to the sun's rays and that is the reason why.

Dear Rochelley,

I'm so sorry to have offended. I had always assumed that the two
were NOT mutually exclusive. My homeopathic doctor here in the US
used herbs extensively in his practice. I'll terminate my membership
here and find a group that uses both.
