I have been sat in the hot sun, thinking about a few cases and just
wanted to write a few notes that may be of interest.
1) know when a case begins and what needs to be cured - the childhood
hyperactivity needs details as it seems to be representative of his
general anxiety now even though a trauma such as grief appeared to be
causative it merely accelerated the state rather than being an exciting
cause?
2) sometimes it it more important to be general rather than particular
- e.g. the extreme anxiety about health - as someone else said you can
chase details within details of the hypochondriasis and not get
anywhere and it is more beneficial to go beyond that and see it as a
huge anxiety that has, for whatever reason manifested in health issues
but the health issues become a red herring and a reason for the general
anxiety is more important - could be identity crisis; salvation crisis;
conceptual crisis, etc etc - you need to be asking "why" all the time -
"why and how he became like this". Even his need for consolation is a
slightly lower ranking sx because it is a by-product of the anxiety and
not to be used as a leading rubric.
3) moving away somewhat from these 'details' will allow for a vision of
the strange rare and peculiar sx to be attained - what could they be -
you have potential contenders so far such as 'boasting about his
friends' (why do that, even if you know the reason it is still a
strange thing to do unless you have an identity crisis and live your
life through others - hence my suggestion of Hydrogen which is in the
'boasting' rubric and covers many of the other sx relayed such as the
need to play rather than work); 'chewing ice' (you also need to know
why he does this and the sensations it brings, also how high ranking is
this sx - if he only does it occasionally then low ranking and possibly
not relevant to the case, if he does it several times each day, with
every drink he has then it would be high ranking); likewise with the
'craving for chocolate' (when is a craving not a craving, how much
chocolate does he actually eat - make sure this is a valid sx); 'the
sparkle in the eye' (to some practitioners appearance is everything, to
others less so but it seems to have taken you towards the
Phosphorus/Tubercular endeavour - to include or not to include?); the
'constant vertigo' (the details of this are missing to some degree, is
it nervous, due to a spacyness in the head, nutrient deficiency, total
imbalance of everything like when in a dream etc etc); 'desires to
play' (worth investigating his need for playfulness - makes me think of
the spiders)
4) presenting complaint - appears to be extreme anxiety/fear and
depression of unknown origin, so look for deeper causation and if there
is none to be found then I would use this as a general theme rather
than use the details
5) never ignore the basics such as modalities/thermals, also I don't
think you've mentioned sleep/dreams - these basics become the
indisputable facts of a case, the concrete sx.
You know all this but it is worth saying but back to the spiders
(inspired by those in my garden) - there is a little rubric Mind,
pities himself, desire to display illness' which seems to partly sum up
your case and there is a spider in this rubric, all the spiders are
extremely and morbidly nervous, full of fear and anxiety, hyper, always
moving, agitated and excited, needy (often for foods or stimulants but
can be company as well), they are manipulative in as much they will
create a situation that requires urgent attention and in this case it
is potentially threatening illness, lots of tingling and numbness and
this includes vertigo, intuitive, playful, etc and the spiders web Tela
aranearum is the rx that brings back the 'sparkle in the eyes' and this
rx just so happens to appear in the chewing ice/craving chocolate
rubrics as well.
So the paradigm here could be 'threatened (what by?) = fear/anxiety =
manifested in pretend illness = requires attention/consolation =
becomes extreme through trauma (grief) = unbalanced (vertigo) = loss of
self, living through others = moderated by cravings - (what comes
next?)"
Just a few thoughts. Best wishes, Joy

He wakes up in a panic state almost every night.
Sees strange faces in the corner of his eye.
Likes it cold but he can get chilly.
Heat makes worse.

It would clinch a spider for me
but hopefully we will get to know
how the Arg nit pans out and I would still like to know about the
hyperactivity as a child - a potential early showing of a
susceptibility that was to worsen as he got older and had to deal with
a grief trauma. Joy

Re: obsessed by illness
Hi Shannon, I use mostly 12C's and LM's.
Hardly ever a high potency.
The thing is if I use a high potency I feel I don't have control
over the remedy regarding switching to another remedy or using
another one inbetween.
If it comes to the point where he needs a stronger dose as is
said "similiar yet slightly higher than the original disease" than I
will give it to him.
He's iffy because he would seem sensitive yet his disease may need a
good kick in the butt.
I'm still trying to find the correct rx to take care of this. Once
I know that, we're all set to go.
Those symptoms below are also Phos as well.
He has no anger issues. He's a friendly outgoing person so I
questioned Stram.
Haven't heard from him today and he's got a dose of the Arg-N in him
so we shall see.
I'll let you know asap! I'm anxious to know if this works.

Thanks Emily, sounds good!
Can I ask how you decide when to repeat the dose? I'm wondering both
how long you typically see a 12 holding (how often you typically
repeat) and also whether you are going by "schedule" or "as-needed"?

Re: obsessed by illness
This is in my experience because you'll hear Homeopaths say a 12C
can last forever.
I seem to feel typically for ME they last 4 days.
I never give a scheduled dose. On occassion I've had someone take 3
12C's as - am pm am. That lasts about 2 weeks.
But one pellet lasts about 4 days or longer on the average. Greatly
Just depends on the person.
I prefer LM's. They work great, go deep I feel and cure faster.
