Are you in the US? Maybe take a look at the NANHE (North American
Network of Homeopathic Educators) website - all the main schools are
there with their websites and info about what they offer,
qualifications they give etc etc.

www.homeopathyeducation.org

Good luck!

Thanks all for the information. Has anyone compared the curricula of
British Institute and School of Homeopathy (NY). They seem very
similar.

Any reasons why British Institute should be chosen over School of
Homeopathy or vice versa?

Here are schools..............

New York Branch http://www.schoolofhomeopathynewyork.com/

I see they also now have an online course for first year
http://www.tshny.com/ which looks interesting.

There are some interesting samples you can view and listen to

The first module of the Online Foundation course will begin in September of
2006 and will include a one week virtual orientation to the course and its
online tools and techniques. During this week you will meet your classmates
and become comfortable with the tools you need to access the course materials.

Here are some of the schools listed on this site

This is another correspondence but they aren't totally classical

Can students be taught (or learn) as effectively through distance education programs such as British Inst. or School of Homeopathy in Devon, England (Misha Norland's school)????

Quite clearly, there are some things that can be taught through distance
learning.

But is it not effectively "Go and read a book" in concept. If that was a
real way to learn, as soon as we learn to read, then there is no need for
schools and colleges and universities - instead all we would need would be
books.

However, learning through apprenticeship of a master is by far the best way
of learning.
How can one learn case taking / patient interaction etc through distance
learning?

One can certainly learn the philosophy of homeopathy and also the basic
information about remedies using distance learning. At some point, however,
it becomes important to work with several different master homeopaths in
clinical situations where one gradually takes on more responsibility in
working with patients. Doing this with several different practitioners
allows the student to acquire a more three-dimensional awareness of
different effective ways to practice, since different cases often require
different approaches. This is also how a practitioner ultimately builds
his/her own ability to practice independently.

Also, it seems that the School of Homeopathy program is quite rigorous,
and I think longer than BIH's.
