rubric explanation please?

what does the rubric 'throat, anesthesia' mean? does it mean what i
think is meant that it is indicated when
someone has sore throat after intubating in an operation? or does it only
mean that the throth is numb?

Since there is no "after" in the rubric and the medical meaning of anesthesia is lack of feeling or sensation, I assume the rubric means that the throat is numb. In addition, in Kent's time, the early 1900s, anesthesia during surgery was produced by placing a cloth over the patient's nose soaked with ether. Nothing was put down the throat.

you are right i should have paid attention to 'after' that was missing, and
that in the old days
there was no intubate! now you wrote it i think 'why did nt i think that
myself! ugh

Hello, I was just looking at this rubric you mention and if anesthesia
refers to numbness then there is also a rubric for numbness of the throat
with some slightly different remedies included. Why would that be? Thanks.

or general reduction of sensitivity to pain (through drugs)

. numbness

n. condition of being numb; loss of sensation

so there is a slight difference.
