Undershot/overshot jaw?

Post by Shannon Nelson »

What would be the rubrics for a jaw that is either undershot
(strikingly too small for the face) or overshot (too large/bottom teeth
protrude), or "buck teeth"? Or would these just be among the "midline
deformities" of tubercular miasm?
Thanks,
Shannno

Hi Shannon,

My experience is it is also the Syphilitic miasm ... Rubric help I can't offer
at the moment, sorry.

Kind regards, Barbara

Thanks Barbara,

Do you recall any specific experiences with these issues? I assume
that they could be corrected in a growing child, but not once growth
has stopped? Have you seen any of these associated with any particular
remedies, or just with the miasm?

Thanks,
Shannon

***Hi Shannon
Some info from Grant Bentley's book Appearance and Circumstance, which
covers miasms, facial features and homoeopathy

He has a receding chin in the psoric miasm, and an overbite or underbit in
the syphilitic miasm

Best

Thanks Robyn!

I just read the review of the book at HES's site, and it looks
fascinating!
(Can you explain to me the difference between underbite and receeding
chin?)

Hi Shannon,

In adults, it SEEMS to be miasmatic only - Syph did change/lessen her
convinction she needed reconstructive dental work (got to an advanced stage
of negotiations too, before she shelved them after the remedy). One case
however, and just my experience, so important to hear other experiences too.
:-)

Best wishes, Barbara

I have gleaned the following from info viewed, and am open to correction by
anyone who knows otherwise.

Class II Malocclusion is where your upper teeth stick out past your lower
teeth. This is also called an "overbite" or "buck teeth"
Class III Malocclusion is where your lower teeth stick out past your upper

Based on this information, it would seem that what you may refer to as an
underbite is really called an overbite and leads to the appearance of a
receding chin. I viewed some pics of this and it seems to be this way.

There is a condition called Micrognathia, which is a severe form of this
which can cause difficulties for babies feeding and lack of room for teeth
to grow due to an undersized jaw

Hi Robyn,

Oops, you're right, I did mean the difference between *over*bite and
receeding chin.
Thanks!
Shannon
