Homeopathy: The Test
Dear Sisters and Brothers, Homoeopaths!
I am not a regular viewer of TV and could not watch BBC's programme about Homoeopathy shown for the first time possibly during the yeay 2002 in their series known as 'Horizon'. I had the opportunity of viewing one of its repeat telecasts recently.
From the begining till end, there is a latent bias for homoeopathy in the whole programme. In the end, BBC concludes as under:-
"Homeopathy is back where it started without any credible scientific explanation. That won't stop millions of people putting their faith on it, but science is confident. Homeopathy is impossible."
I am sure many of us must have vatched this programme and challenged its contents. Was this done? Do we have any thing on Internet to prove that the results drawn in the programme were non-scientific?

The concepts of disease and healing, as described in Homeopathic System of Medicine, are similar to modern scientific concepts though homeopathy emphasises the importance of treating individuals as a whole person as opposed to only understanding a single "diseased part. Re: Homeopathy: The Test
I have tried in my time working with some of the registering bodies for
homeopaths in the UK to get recognition for the need for coordinated
and consistent responses from the representatives of the homeopathic
community to ALL media put downs.
However, very frustratingly, there seems to be lack of interest in
investing time and money in this: rather more is spent in discussions
(ahem!) between the various organisations on who should be ruling the
roost
i.e Internal politics use up the resources that would IMO be better put
to use on external politics

Re: Homeopathy: The Test
From what I gather reading your messages on this and related subjects, nothing had changed in hundred years since Stuart Close wrote his “Genius of Homeopathy”, chapter I: “The Psychological Point of View” – last section: “Principles and Organizations” [page 5 in the reprinted 2000 edition]. Worth reading!

Re: Homeopathy: The Test
When I saw the program I thought that there seemed to be a lot of scientists
commenting on homeopathy, but no physicists as far as I could tell. Do
others think that would make a difference?
George Vithoulkas states on his website that the original research was
flawed.
Does anyone have an opinion on this?
Michele Graham.

Re: Homeopathy: The Test
Friends,
I did some research about "The Test" that the BBC's Horizon's TV
programme aired several years ago, and I discovered that it was a FRAUD!
They didn't replicate earlier studies; they hired a "medical technologist"
(a very low level "scientist") to make up his own study. However, because
this guy has had so little experience in working with basophils (and NO
experience in doing homeopathic laboratory research), he used a chemical in
his study that is known to kill basophils (whooops!).
For more details about this study, go to: http://tinyurl.com/5nfxs
Please note that an American TV show ("20/20") hired the SAME
medical technologist to do this same JUNK SCIENCE study (Information about
this study is also provided at this link).
I filed a formal complaint with the BBC, but they never responded to
it (perhaps because I'm not British...who knows?).

Re: Homeopathy: The Test
Simon,
I read with interest the link you have provided and I totally agree.
There is a new movie out called "What the bleap do we know" which is appropriate to homeopathy.
I would add that:
1. We do not have to "prove" that homeopathy works. Pharmaceutical companies and MD do not know how their allopathic "medicine" work. This is the reason why many people suffer from the so called side effects of medications. Further, "medicine" have to be removed from the market once found dangerous because the "how the medicine works" was unknown.
2. What is important is homeopathy works, when the correct Rx is choosen the patient is cured. Who is desputing this should spent the time in explaining how homeopathy works.
3. Our main aim is to stick to paragraph 1 of the Organon and cure patients instead of wasting time with rethorics. Ultimately it does not matter how homeopathy works, what really matters is that once the correct remedy is choosen, it works!
Best regards
Lucy
