A 52-year photographer who has a complicated asthmatic
case has the following case history.
The patient has worked for a presidential press
service for more than 20 years, which has made him
travel a lot across the world. Due to this he has had
three road accidents with the first and most serious
one in 1979. He had deep cuts on the head and was even
transfused with blood.
Ten years down the years he developed asthma.
The most interesting thing about the case is that he
got so curious with his condition that he traced what
could have been the cause. According to him, since he
managed to get the blood donor who lives in a
different country, he might have contracted the
disease from the blood, as the donor is a
constitutional asthmatic. (I do not know if this holds
some water in it)
At one time he was diagnosed with bronchitis.
Pollens, strong sprays, cold trigger his asthmatic
reaction and physical exercises.
During the attack at night he tends to have frequent
urination. When he coughs there is a lot of rattling
in the chest.
His attacks were always coming from 2a.m. but this has
changed since I put him on homeopathic remedies.
His back feels weak especially when he sits for long.
When he starts sneezing the attack must come on.
He is very humble and outgoing character. Though he
like keeping things to himself. His curiosity made him
go into some Chinese herbal medicine and is a strong
critic of the allopathic drugs.
He has itching between the thighs.
The toe especially the big one has gouty pains worse
during cold weather.
I first put him on Nat.sulph.30c one dose every
bedtime and reported great improvement after three
days. One thing he reported back to me was that his
energy had tremendously improved and as going upstairs
was exhausting, he could experience a change.
He used the medicine for one week and then I stopped.
The attacks then came back and I repeated my
prescription. This times no improvement.
I then went to 200c potencies, which proved stronger
as he was more of proving.
I changed the medicine to Kali c 30c, which only
changed the time modality. The attacks became worse
during the day. I stopped the medicine just to see if
he would get better but no.
The itching, which had previous disappeared, got worse
and I gave him Carbo.v 30c and the itch has since
gone.
The most worrying thing is that he is getting more
attacks than before but now during the day.
Can you help, as I would not like to give up?

Hi Joakim,
Although it would not be typical, I wonder if Arnica has a place in this
case. I have seen chronic asthma respond to asthma (and hives) when there
was a physical injury or shock that appeared to be the origin of it.

The road accidents could be a complete red herring and to be honest you
would be guessing as to their connection to the case.
What is a curious sx is the frequent urination with the attacks.
You could reduce the case to this
Pollens, strong sprays, cold trigger his asthmatic
reaction and physical exercises.
During the attack at night he tends to have frequent
urination. When he coughs there is a lot of rattling
in the chest.
His attacks were always coming from 2a.m.
His back feels weak especially when he sits for long.
When he starts sneezing the attack must come on.
He has itching between the thighs.

Benzoic acid came to my mind and you might want to read about this rx.
You should also give some careful thought about potencies and don't repeat
without knowing if the remedy is working or not. I would recommend LM's in
cases of asthma.
