Thanks all those who replied. Fast and weak is not for my patient as her pulse is fast and strong.

Digitalis has strong pulse but then it is slow generally. But I think
it has the other symptoms of the case-

a fast and strong pulse - could be

Tellurium, Colchicum, Cimicifuga,Gels(full, quick not hard),
Also Dulc, Aur.met, Ferr, Ferr.phos,Glon, Aethusa, Ledum,Cactus, NV,
Alumina, Lach, Opium?
Look at the concomitants-

Hi Chris-
That was a good analysis and I agree mostly.
Yes I agree - Digitalis for slow pulse is the main 'homeopathic' indication-

At the same time Digitalis has both actions- in digitalis toxicity you get both slowing of heart or fibrillations... it can cause sinus bradycardia, asystole etc. at the same time can also cause atrial and ventricular fibrillation.

Which means that it can be given Homeopathically for all variations of pulse rate- so concomitants become important...
I guess that is what Koppikar meant here. Because he is talking about the other indications of Digitalis like weakness, giddiness, jaundice etc. and when the potency needs to be decided to give Digitalis high for slow pulse and low for fast pulse rate

There might be some confusion in some of these drug actions where apart from the known clinical symptoms various receptors are being affected and feed back loops triggered etc. and in heart conditions it is so variable based on the chambers, inflow etc.

Digitalis itself slows pulse, improves cardiac output ( so strong contractions) and improves diuresis- and all most all of these are HEALTHY states.

Cardiac rhythm instability of any kind should respond to Digitalis if the other symptoms ( visual effects, nausea, loss of appetite, jaundice, dropsy ( which is also caused by Digitalis) etc.

Dear Chris,

Thanks for your dissertation below that just supports my theory of never
giving a Remedy according to the results of a repchart without first
checking it in a good MM. Personally I use Clarke but maybe I will give
Allen's encyclopaedia the once over in future.:-)

Hi
I would like to know if Digitalis can be given to antidote the sideeffects of Digoxin given to a postoperative (bypass surgery after an heart attack) patient.
Digoxin along with Cardace is given to strengthen heart muscle & slow down pulse rate, but they do have their own side effects.
In such cases a lot of medication is given, it is very difficult to get a clear picture of a single remedy, so will homeopathy help in alleviating the side effects .
ThankS & wd be grateful for a response.
