Rubric search
Hi all,
I am looking for rubrics to describe a 17 year old boy who was severely abused by a bipolar mother. Since the mother was removed from the home by the state when he was 11 years, old the violent traits have left. He is very loveable to adults, but his peers can't stand him because he talks only about one subject. These are the traits that I can't find:
1). When he is anxious he bites his feet and fingers. He is not doing this because of pain or itchiness. He is anxious. I see the rubric
MIND - TEARING - himself - skin around nails
carc
It doesn't matter what the feeling is, the behavior is what count?
2.) He can't follow the emotional plot of a movie. Only the action plots make sense to him.
Blessings,
Ellen Madono

Re: Rubric search
Hi Ellen,
More rubrics --
MIND; BITING; himself (11) : acon., arum-t., elaps, hura, lac-h., lyss.,
op., plb., sol-t-ae., stram., tarent.
MIND; BITING; fingers (8) : acon., arum-t., carc., elaps, hydrog., med.,
op., plb.
What is the "one subject" that he talks about? Or do you mean that, once
started, he goes on and on? (Is he "loquacious", or perhaps a lack of
connection with the listener, which would be consistent with being unable to
follow the emotional plot of a movie...?)
Re feeling versus behavior -- I think the feeling is *more* important (i.e.
more defining) than the behavior, but behavior is easier to see. Do try to
get as much of the feeling as you can!!! Have you asked re dreams, favorite
movies, daydreams, what he would like to do/be, fears, etc.?

Also - Bites, desires to, impulse to. But if he can't follow 'emotional'
situations portrayed in films, then maybe you should be considering
remedies like Stram and Opium, along with the Carc. too ? But without
more info. very difficult to say !
Good luck Ellen

Dear Shannon,
Thanks for the rubric. When the mind comes up with an activity, then the meaning content of that activity will vary with every remedy?
I think he has a very low emotional IQ. He doesn't understand what is going on when the plot is only about emotions. But I will have to proble that more.
THANK-YOU

I know you are asking for rubrics but it sounds very much like Medorrhinum
to me.

Thank-you Rosemary, Want of sensitiveness and absorbed might fit. I'll speak again with his parents. After the first interview and living near him for a week, we are doing te rest of the case by email and telephone. I am working on this case with Dr. Sharhar and hoping to become more systematic in my rubric choosing procedure. However, If you did not ask the right questions, didn't proble deep enough or just could not associate other known rubrics as in this case, you still will not come out ahead.

Have you any clue how much of this is from the emotional neglect/abuse(?),
and how much might have been there anyway (miasmatic)? It might help to
have information on his infancy and toddlerhood, if that's available?

Medorrhinum has a lot of delusions and visions of animals especially those
that often cause so much anxiety in people - rats, mice and various insects
crawling out of corners. In their despair and anxiety they will often adopt
a cruel attitude to all animals in an attempt to fend off this overpowering
influence - basically an 'out of control' state.
Carcinosin very often have a compensating relationship with animals as they
prefer them, for various reasons, to humans.
