Position statement from the American Assoc. of Homeopathic Pharmacists
regarding Anthrax and Anthracinum.

The anthrax and related bioterror scares have put a strain on the information
resources of the homeopathic industry. This AAHP position statement was
developed in conjunction with the physicians of the AIH and NCH.
In this time of crisis, some companies may choose to promote homeopathic
drug products for the treatment of prophylaxis of anthrax. There is no
homeopathic literature nor clinical trials which support and homeopathic drug
and more specifically Anthracinum for use as either prophylaxis for, or
treatment of, infections caused by anthrax (bacillus anthraxis). Such
indications are prescription in nature and are an inappropriate use of any
product sold over the counter. The literature supports the OTC sale of
Anthracinum HPUS only for vesicular skin eruptions. Accordingly, the AAHP
makes clear its position that websites and markets selling homeopathic
medicines as OTC products for epidemic and infectious diseases may be in
violation of Federal laws.
When properly applied by trained medical professionals, some homeopathic
medicines have been shown to be useful in epidemic disease. However, most
infectious diseases require medical intervention because an absolute
confirmation of infections with a particular disease-producing microorganism
requires laboratory tests. Infectious diseases are not self-limiting and
require medical diagnosis and monitoring. Therefore it is the position of the
AAHP that it is absolutely inappropriate for a homeopathic drug product to be
sold over-the-counter (OTC) while being promoted- in any way – for infectious
disease.
The National Center for Homeopathy (NCH) is publishing original articles

Interesting. The homeopathic literature does, of course, support treating
anthrax with anthracinum -- but the OTC part is a strong position statement.
In fact, apparently, the FDA has stated that it will prosecute vigorously
anyone claiming to have a treatment for anthrax, and this statement probably
prompted the NCH statement.

What implications does this have for your kit? For the website? (I'm
asking this because if we don't want to keep that reference in my article,
we need to delete it ASAP).

This was part of the information that prompted me to change the orientation
of my article -- plus the argument I changed to is clearly supported by the
available research, and I wasn't interested in writing an article saying
"homeopathy doesn't work" when clearly it does work, as long as we use
homeopathic principles.

A skirting of the issue and yet another attempted usurption of the dominion of healthcare to be limited to allopathic medicine and that all disorders are
to be assessed as diseases rather than disharmonies.

Politically pathetic. It is a reduction of healthcare to the loudest mouth and the least common denominator.
