The nasal passages appear dry but the child picks her nose a lot and says
that there are bogies in it. Apparently , according to mum these go straight
into the mouth! It appears that she does this snorting because of post
nasal catarrh. It then gets swallowed. She also had a loud, loose cough
which I thought was a rasping sound but as we know it is so difficult to
distinguish these coughs. The cough brings up mucous which is then
swallowed. There is no tickle or itch. Allium c. seemed to get rid of the
watery eyes she had with hay fever. Once she woke in the morning and said it
was difficult to breathe until she had coughed. She was soooooo restless
today, running around the clinic trying one thing after another and has done
well on Ars 200 in the past. She has dreams of being chased and says that
she watches herself being eaten but doesn't wake up and is not fearful. She
also has "sleep running" which meant that she runs in her dreams. The
snorting is not always there but at the moment it is worse than usual. Mum
says that she is sensitive to light at the moment. She has been eating raw
lemon.
I have given her Ars 200 again!!

Re: Snorting
Thanks - we will see how the Ars goes. What caused the definite "Medorrhinum" please? You've lost me here. She is not a cruel child - at least I don't think so. In fact she puts up with a lot from her younger sister.

Snorting
Catarrh, allergies, hayfever, snuffling, deep cough can't always raise the
mucous, children always have a lot of crusts etc in the nose, love of sour,
restless without being able to concentrate, sensation as if someone behind
them (chased), cannot keep legs still at night, very thirsty so will dream
and think about drinking, darkness >>> (sensitive to the day time). So,
pretty much everything you wrote really, hence the definite and hoping I
wouldn't have to write this
Medorrhinum can be cruel but this isn't always the leading state - quite the
reverse, they can be very sad and tearful with a deep melancholic outlook on
life - it all depends on what part of the remedy picture they are at.

Re: Snorting
Thanks for that as it is not a Rx I have used much if at all with children. I am still seeing how the Ars 200 goes down first as I have already given it!!

Re: Snorting
Hi Rochelle,
My suggestion -- read up *lots* on Med, look for it, try it out! IMO/E it's
a *fabulous* remedy, in that when you need it, you're apt to *really need
it!!!* Includes such oversensivity, extremes, wildness, really awfully
difficult behavior (not in every Med case, but in some). That was the rx
that got my little guy (blessedly only age 4 at the time) out of his "find a
boundary and smash it" phase, including attacking me for fun, attacking me
when he was contradicted, wildness like you wouldn't *believe* at bedtimes,
taking literally hours to fall asleep, even when he *wanted* to, and on and
on and on... My own homeopath (at that time) didn't know the remedy (or not
that presentation of it), but Paul Herscu's *H'c Treatment of Children*
gives a wonderful write-up of Med (and half dozen other rxs) that clued me
in, and wow, what a Godsend.
Cheers,
Shannon

Re: Snorting
Ah, good point...
I think it's also important to say that Med can be needed by "nice" people
too!!!! E.g. it's been one of the remedies that's helped me a great deal on
numerous occasions, and I think I am a fairly "nice" person, LOL! Actually
of the traits mentioned so far about the remedy, the only ones I've had were
about extremes, instability, oversensitivity (med is similar to phos in
certain respects), and some keynote fears, physicals and "delusions". I
have ***NEVER*** fit either the hedonistic picture so vividly drawn by Dr.
Bucur, nor the oppositional picture my little guy put out. But anyway --
enjoy the reading! I do think that book is terrific; wish he'd do another,
covering more remedies!!!
