Sensitivity/Susceptibility

Post by Robyn »

As has been mentioned in various posts and in various ways recently, an
response or aggravation to homoeopathic potencies is not intrinsic to the
potency or the remedy, as if this were so, then the reaction would be the
same for all - therefore, it is the person taking the remedy and the
sensitivity/susceptibility of the recipient which is the key to posology.

Maybe it would be worthwhile for more info on sensitivity and susceptibility
to be discussed. This is such a key issue in successful treatment that it
deserves more attention in my opinion. However, I would also like to say
that there are some circumstances where these parameters may not be able to
be suitably assessed or applied, and blanket clinically verified
prescriptions given - it may be considered better to do this, rather than do
nothing or have the patient seek another potetionally damaging treatment -
these methods have always caused controversy, but they offer just another
way to do homoeopathy when the circumstances call for it - eg., large volume
practice with time constraints...

I was taught that sensitivity is related functionally to receptivity on the
mental/emotional plane and it is this assessment which determines the
potency, whereas susceptibility is evaluated to determine the frequency of
repetition of the dose. Somewhere in notes, I remember compiling various
combinations of susceptibility/sensitivity with corresponding suggestions
for suitable potencies and repetitions eg., high susc. and high sens with
total correspondence of rem; normal susc. and normal sens. with adeqate
correspondence; low susceptibility and norm. sens. etc....... I must find
them and see if they correlate with my experience in practice.

I would welcome more discussion on this issue.

Best to all
Robyn
