Thank you Isali and Sue for these reflections (below). They are meaningful
to me.
Thank you for the Aspartame information, Soroush--scary stuff!
The discussion about susceptibility is of special interest now, of course.
I have been studying the terrible Irish potato famine of 1847 and the
subsequent epidemics of typhus and dysentery, with huge numbers of
fatalities. However, even though it was so horrific, it is interesting to
realize that the death rate was "only" 10%, which says a lot about
susceptibility even under the worst conditions (inadequate food, drink,
clothing, shelter, hygiene).
I mentioned the adventure of this discussion group to a more experienced
homeopath. She suddenly got quiet and sad, then said, "I know why I was
feeling so heavy and depressed!", and she explained about another internet
homeopathy discussion group that had to close down because of huge arguments
among the participants. She said that somehow people tended to speak much
more frankly in this medium than in person or regular letters.
There are all levels of understanding and experience represented in this
group, so patience and openness are needed to make it work. In our
practitioners' study group, we found that it is better to present our
understanding and experience to each other, rather than getting snagged in
"right or wrong" disagreements. That way we listen to each other and learn.
My spiritual teacher said, "There is something to learn from everyone--this
is the mystery of humility."
I feel it's of utmost importance to be diplomatic and respectful in how we
offer our opinions and request information. Judging from the testiness
popping up here and there, it seems easier for people to be offended in this
way of communication. Even in a very short time subscribing, I've managed
to stick my virtual foot in my virtual mouth more than once!
God bless us all,
Charlotte Gilruth
