Kind attn: Rochelle Homoeopath in Kent, UK. Candida Case

Post by Kannan A »

Thanks for your reponse.

UK very much exsists on the site. As this directory
was launched only 2 weeks back, efforts are being
taken to update it as fast as possible. Numerous
requests are being poured in to get listed in the
directory, It takes time to sort the genuine ones. The
UK directory was accessible at
http://www.homeodoctor.com/directory/uk/index.htm

you must have tried
http://www.homoeodoctor.com/directory/uk/index.htm

The diffrence is the 'O' in homoeodoctor.

Once again thanks for your feed back. Kindly help us
make this directory complete tell your homeopathic
friends to get listed by filling the form at
http://www.homeodoctor.com/directory/addme.htm

regards,
Dr.Kannan

Dear Dr Kanan,

Could you explain why your register is only for homeopaths who are doctors?

In the UK, most doctors who are also homeopaths, have received only limited
training in Homeopathy.

Thanks in advance for your explanation.

Regards,

Grace

Well I certainly didn't see that bit. I hope when the UK part comes on line I will not be called a doctor as I have registered!! As Grace has said in UK most homeopaths like myself are 4 year trained non medical practitioners.

In India, the homoeopaths also receive similar
training like the allopathic practitioners (5 years 6
months) degree. And both are called doctors. The Homeo
doctors can then do an postgraduation MD(Hom) in
different subject, that is for another 3 years. Like
my MD(Hom) was in repertory.
So basically here we call all of them doctors. I will
change the words in the website to practitioners, I
hope it should solve the problem universally.

Dr.A.Kannan

This is a very important question. I have actually checked this out and what
Grace says is absolutely correct. If you want to be treated homeopathically
it is best to stick to non-doctors who have been trained as homeopaths
rather than trained doctors who have done a couple of weekends dabbling in
homeopathy. If you are referred to a doctor homeopath just check that they
have done the full homeopathic training.

I also think it is highly questionable for someone to ride both horses, the
"I might give you allopathic drugs, or homeopathic remedies depending on how
I feel" approach. In the UK the Faculty of Homeopathy has a list of doctor
homeopaths that I think is suspect.

For patients this can be a problem too. For example if you want homeopathy
from some private medical insurances, notably BUPA, the biggest of all in
the UK, they will only pay for it if it is via a doctor-homeopath.

For anyone looking for homeopathic treatment in the UK, look for someone who
is registered with either the Society of Homeopaths, the Homeopathic Medical
Association, or the Alliance of Registered Homeopaths (see www.a-r-h.org)

Thanks Steve.

Can I just add that, on the question of Healthare Insurance, only BUPA and
PPP in the Uk stick to "insurance if only the practitioner is a doctor too". All
other Insurance Companies embrace Homeopaths who are not doctors. The thing
is we have to tell our patients about this. Many of my patients have voted with
their feet, and have moved to other Insurance Companies who are willing to
pay for their choice of complementary therapies.

I hope that eventually, PPP and BUPA will see this and reconsider their
position. I certainly know that BUPA is keeping an eye on developments.
Best regards,

Grace

J.Compton Burnett and many others might point out that some people just see the light late, but better late than never, eh?

Mind you, I think you're probably right...

You seem to equate conventionally treated MDs with pill pushers.
I think this is a big exaggeration.
Homeopathy like all the other medical techniques is geared to treat patients with diseases.
First you must be able to recognise a disease, despite what many homeopaths claim that all we need is symptoms, not labels; symptoms point to problems, some problems need non homeopathic solutions.
Once you know what the problem is at all levels (physical, M/E....), then you can choose your type of treatment; diagnosis and treatment do not need to be automatically linked, there are many options, some better than others.
Of course I am partial because of my upbringing, but I believe that knowledge is power and the more you know the more powerful you are.
The MDs education is NOT limited to prescribing but includes a thorough understanding of the function of the human body in health and sickness.
That many of those practitioners choose to ignore it and limit themselves to a this for that way of therapy is shameful and a reality, but it does not mean all of them do it.

I agree with all that you say; nothing is so simple that the goodies are on
one side and the baddies on the other. I suppose I am really saying that if
I (personally) want to be treated by a homeopath I want someone who is
committed to homeopathy rather than allopathy. I agree that the training,
knowledge and expertise of allopathic doctors is quite amazing. What I
object to is the assumption that this background, good as it is in its own
right, gives doctors the right to call themselves 'homeopaths' when they
have done only very basic training. And then, on top of this, the prejudice
of the NHS and private medical insurance companies who prefer to send people
to such practitioners rather than someone who has studied homeopathy in
depth.

Agree with one difference.............I am committed to my patients, not to a form of therapy.

I always say the same thing: if it take for me to dance a tribal healing dance naked under the full moon to heal a patient, I will do it (boy, just wait for my invoice on that one...........).
