Iodine and goitre
Re: Iodine and goitre
My patient is trying the iodine test today!!! She managed to find some 2.5% iodine solution which contained potassium (probably as the iodide)!!

Re: Iodine and goitre
Dear Rochelle, I take it this would be crude Kali Iod? You might
want to read Clarke on the use of this crude drug. Where has
your homeopathy gone

She is only going to do this very simple topical test to see if she needs it!!! I can't see what is so wrong with this.-)

Re: Iodine and goitre
My patient woke at night and checked the patch and the colour had gone. This was after 11 hours. So what is the consensus of opinion - to do the test again , this time apply at bedtime to see if it has gone in the morning? Do you think there is reason to apply Iodine to the neck??? (Joy - I am only asking!!!)
She took Sepia on 13th Feb - so far there has been no reaction she says and she will report again on Thursday before she goes away.

Re: Iodine and goitre
My mother used to do this (maybe still does), tho she just applied it
anywhere. Hers used to disappear sometimes in 20 minutes!!! And as she got
better (Synthroid then Armour) it would take longer, tho still disappears
rather quickly.
Sometimes (as in her case) iodine is not really the issue, tho; in some
cases (e.g. hers) the issue was inability to *use* the iodine that was
present in her diet. She also noticed that time it took to disappear would
fluctuate wildly -- sometimes 20 minutes, sometimes up to 11 hours (on a
good day!!!), then way back down again. I never saw any sign that it did
her any harm, but it also didn't seem to do her any good.
I think this is another case where you need to have a sense of *why* the
deficiency symptoms are there -- is it from dietary lack (in which case
supplementation makes sense), or is it because of impaired absorption or
utilization (which case supplementation might or might not be effective, but
certainly won't be the final answer).
If this is the person whose goiter has shrunk so beautifully from those
applications (sorry, I'm rushing thru my reading, sob), then personally I
would think it looks like her body is indeed assimilating it, and does
preesumably need it...

Re: Iodine and goitre
Hi Shannon and everyone,
Iodine requires adequate Selenium in the body to be taken up. I have seen
people who are on Synthroid and Armour, and still don¹t absorb iodine, and
whose basal temperature is still way low.
I would add either nutritional supplementation of Selenium or make sure
there is plenty in my food (and although I personally prefer nutrition
through food, the dismal state of the depleted earth and horrible
agricultural practices make it impossible to obtain our vitamins and
minerals from our food, even if we consume huge amounts‹sorry Joy!, it is
all documented if you wish....).
I have seen fantastic results with adding Selenium at 8X to the Thyroid 4C.
It is NOT Homeopathy, it is regimen and nutrition. It can be possibly
turned around with right nutrition, such as Selenium rich foods in large
quantities and seaweed/kelp intake.

Re: Iodine and goitre
Dear Sara, no need to apologise to me and I am well aware of the state of
the earth. But there is a lot we can all do to try and make this situation
better. if we cannot all grow our own food or adequately get into the
organic market then certainly campaigning in some way would/should help (a
lifetime's work, no doubt). We are what we eat.
But I weep and wail when I read about supplement popping, painting iodine
onto our bodies and the like. I don't always understand why people then even
bother with homeopathy especially if there is a spill over with the same
pill popping approach
Ever hopeful, Joy

Re: Iodine and goitre
Hi Joy,
I am alittle confused by your response. Do you not agree that if there is a deficiency within the body that one should take the necessary measures to correct the imbalance? Even if it where to include taking a supplement?

Re: Iodine and goitre
Depends whether the deficiency is due to pathology or dysfunction or poor
diet. If it is just diet then I would always encourage that to be corrected
by a better diet and I take every opportunity I can to discourage putting
further profit into the multinationals - the supplement industry being one
of them.
