Dear Anton, Dear Group,
This is further to Anton smith's Low Blood Pressure case.
While the homeo medicine is given, a complementary therapy
for instant blood pressure increase which is non medicinal,&
non intervening can be given with great advantage.
The Pranayamic (yogic Breathing) exercise,Kapalapathi is an
excellent one to raise BP immediately. It ventillates with
abundant oxygen at a rapid rate to rejuvenate the entire system.
Any yoga teacher will teach you that. For starters.
1. First (basrika) variation:
Sit in the Vajrasana position-On your knees with both the
buttocks seated firmly between the spread toes. The entire
portion from knee to the foot flatly on a soft seat or mattress.
Raise both arms parallely palms opened. Imagine you start to hold
a bar by the both hands and pull it forcibly down till the elbow is
parallel with your trunk and the palm at the soulder level. This
should be done at a good speed. The air in the chest would have
been forcibly emptied by now with a hissing sound. Now, just as the
hand reached downraise it again. This time the atmospheric air would
have entered
your lungs on its own. Again bring the arms down. then lift.
the down action must be three times faster than up. At no time
you should use your breathing apparatus to inhale or exhale.
That should be enacted by the expanding and contracting lung.
Do fifteed sets. Relax. let go for two minutes. Then repeat for
another round. Starters can do two rounds. Then can go for three.
Doing this in empty stomach. before eating or 3 1/2 hrs after is good.
2. Second (true kapalapathi) variation:
Sit in either vajrasana or padmasana (lotus) or sukhasana normal
cross legged sitting position. Sit erect.Keep the left palm on
the naval and the right on the left palm.
Slowly inhale. Now, by voluntarily pull in the abdominal
muscles. feel the hands going with them. The air in the
lungs will automatically get emptied. Now repeat the same
pulling in immediately without waiting for inhalation.
The catch here is that in the fraction of the second
gap between two exhalations, the inhalation will
automatically take place.Repeat them at a good pace. For an
onlooker, the stomach will be like the bellows of a blacksmith.
Force a smile on your face. Not a single muscle should
twitch. Your nostrils should be relaxed and should never
be used for the breathing. The mechanical movement of the
diaphragm is controlling the breathing now. This is a painless
process and when starting forty to fifty cycles can be practiced
per session. As you get the feel, you can raise it to hundreds.
A typical practitioner can do about a hundred exhalations a
minute ! less than a second for each exhalations. It is a most
enjoyable exercise.
The caution is - never strain- never use your facial or lung
muscle to breathe. This is different. Moisten your lips
and always smile.
check BP before and after this exercise.
Conversely, slow, rhythmic abdominal breathing is for
Hyper BP.
Post all your questions privately.

Venkat
