FIND THE REMEDY'S NAME (112)

Post by Ardavan Shahrdar »

Find the name of the following remedy:

It is mostly indicated in epileptiform convulsions.

The patient 'cries loudly and suddenly falls
backwards'. Face is livid and swollen. Opisthotonus,
bloody froth from mouth and nose, trismus, locked jaw,
biting of tongue and involuntary stool are other
important accompanying symptoms.

There is stupifaction between convulsions and
restlessness after the attacks. 'Sudden and complete
loss of consciousness'.

Convulsions may appear instead of menses.

It is compared with 'Cicuta virosa' and 'Bufo'.

Sincerely,

Ardavan Shahrdar, MD, DIHom

Grom Gupta - Directory of diseases and cures in Hom (in EH)

Potencies 6, 30

Epileptic fits, convulsions with livid (blue), twitching, puffed face,
accelerated pulse, deep coma. Convulsions are followed by vertigo, yawning,
madness, nausea, vomiting, burning heat and agonising pain in stomach and then
patient falls down unconscious, jaws are locked, eyes may turn up, foam at
mouth during death-like fits with cold hands and feet.

From a proving published in Homeopathic Links 1992:

Mind and emotions: Nervous and restless, unhappy, better alone. Trembling
and nervousness, indifference, feeling of being distanced, apathy. The
feeling they have many things to do all at the same time. Many ideas. Would
like to do many things, but cannot. Wants to move the furniture around,
would like to read but cannot concentrate. Despite tiredness cannot sleep.
Feels hurried. Fear that something will happen. A feeling that the hands or
the voice don't belong to them. Fear to go crazy. Feels intoxicated. Wants
to buy many things, particularly a lot of jewelry. Lives as if in danger,
very quarrelsome, angry, can hardly stop themselves hitting. Sad and weepy,
could continuously weep, full of self-pity, on the other side feels good and
in balance, despite being depressed (This prover therefore took the remedy
two weeks later as a therapeutic dose). Vertigo and an insecure feeling,
feel they are walking on clouds, feels better in the fresh air, as if there
was cotton wool in the legs, as if they would fall down. Vertigo and nausea
when walking, unstable feeling in the feet, as if they would leave the body.
Awkwardness, things fall out of their hands, the provers constantly injured
themselves. Problems with concentration, cannot listen, better in the fresh
air. Sleepiness and tiredness. Very unrefreshed in the morning, heavy like
lead, better in the fresh air. Heavy tiredness after lunch. Tired every
afternoon, tired in the evening. Sleeps in a concert for example, but then
can not go to sleep later. Particular desire to undertake things at night.
Doesn't want to go to bed, "it's a shame for the time". Prefers to read and
work, goes first at 1 or 2 to sleep. 4 of the provers found themselves more
capable and fresh with very little sleep, despite feeling very heavy in the
morning.
Head: feeling as if the head was swollen, as if blown up. Feeling as if
the fluid in the head moved when the head moved. Hammering pain over the
eyes. Worse with movement, better with pressure, worse at night. Boring pain
on the right temporal night and morning.
Eyes: burning eyes, feeling a pressure on the lids, or feeling as if
someone pressed from inside. Problems with vision, unclear vision and
shimmering. Sensitive to light, points before the eyes.
Mouth: cold-sores, blisters on the tip of the tongue, painful on
touching, a feeling as if the upper lip was swollen, dry mouth, despite
drinking a lot.
Nose: tingling sensation at the end of the nose, burning on the left
side of the nose wing, tickling and sneezing without coryza.
Chest: pressure on the chest when breathing, cramping pulling feeling
behind the sternum, pain lasts for a quarter of an hour.
Stomach: hunger without appetite, or appetite without hunger. Cramps in
the stomach after rich or fat food, desire for vinegar or highly seasoned,
averse sweet and fruit, increased thirst, nausea with sweating, retching and
increased feeling to pass stool, nausea and full feeling without eating.
Abdomen: pain and distension after sitting long, better movement,
itching of the anus, increased desire to stool in the evening also to pass
urine. Can hardly hold the stool.
Bladder: frequency of urine without pain, pain in the bladder after
getting the feet cold, worse warm applications.
Genitalia man: increased ability to enjoy sex.
Genitalia woman: stronger desire but feels exhausted after sex.
Menstruation: the bleeding last longer than usual, up to 2 weeks. Later
onset of menstruation.
Extremities: sticking and pulling feeling with a weak feeling in all
extremities. Drawing pain in extremities with a weak heavy feeling. This
pain begins in the afternoon and gets worse in the evening and night. Numb
feeling and tingling in the arms and hands. A feeling as if the finger on
the right hand was thicker than those on the left hand. Electric type
feeling along the right underarm and to the 4th and 5th finger. Trembling in
the fingers and hands at rest and at work.
Generalities: dry heat in whole body, but also a strong chilliness.
Oscillates between hot and cold.
Conclusion: it is interesting to note how similar the symptoms noted
from poisoning are to those noted from the proving. There were no
differences in body symptoms from the taking of a D3 and a D30. Symptoms
were also similar to those found in the picture of Conium and Cicuta.
Particular the enormous restlessness and hurriedness. Cicuta, Conium,
Aethusa, Petroselinum, Asophoetida are all from the same family,
Umbellifera.
There seems to be a constant tingling and trembling in muscle parts mit
dem Gefühl der.... loss of feeling in the exhaustive state and on the mind
level, a strong irritability, loss of self-control and fear, a euphoric
feeling (storm of ideas, desire to buy lots of things and increasing up to
the..) changing with a feeling of drawing back shyness and depressive mood.
Experiences the world as far away. This distancing is also seen in the body.
For example as if the hands and the voice do not belong to them. Under
stress the patient reacts angrily and out of control. When he realizes this
he becomes unhappy and believes he is going crazy, but still cannot control
himself. This over irritability eventually leads to an exhaustion. Generally
the body symptoms where clearly indicated by the provers and also are in
line with that confirmed from the poisoning observations. From the proving
of this remedy we see that [remedy] is not only a remedy for Epilepsy. In
comparison to Conium, Conium shows more symptoms of paralysis and rigidity.
In Cicuta we see more euphoria or intoxication where [remedy] the fears and
restlessness and the irritability are in the forefront.
