Hello!
I have a question about a Cat and kitten.
My momma Cat has a kitten that she semi abandoned a week ago. The kitten was crying under our house and we rescued it, and tried to give it to the mother to nurse (It's only this week perhaps 2- 3 weeks old) She would sit and nurse it while we were right there, but when we'd turn around, she'd get up and leave it. We think the kitten is blind... Don't know if any damage could have occurred if eyes opened prematurely. She seems awfully little to have had eyes open. We think the kitten was possibly without mother's milk for 2 days (that's how long kitten seemed to be crying...took a while to figure out where sound was coming from) ... I don't know if the momma cat doesn't have enough milk? Or, if she is just indifferent towards her kitten. The kitten will try to nurse, and will root around to several nipples, but doesn't seem to be able to find satisfaction.... Kitten seems to sleep a lot.
Is there any experience with this type of thing? We moved both up to our tiled bathroom, installed a covered litter pan, have food and water, (all the comforts of home) and let the momma Cat out for excersize several times a day.... I don't know if the rejection is because of kitten's vision? I'm not too experienced with that.
Increase milk? Anti rejection remedy?
Thanks for any help and insight.

Re: Veternarian Question...
Hi Ruby,
I have a dear friend that has ALOT of cats. I went and gave her your
posting and this is what she wrote to me.
" tell her she can buy mothers' milk substitute for
kittens at a pet store and or a feedstore and if I were her, I would feed
the kitten that. Forget the mother. Get that kitten some nourishment!
Love,
Reenie"
Please keep me posted about this kitty.
blessings to you,
