Re your query Duputryn's Contracture

Either Hereditary or from hepatic Cirrhosis

1.. Symptoms and signs
2.. Deformity contracture of fingers
1.. Interference with hand use by contracted fingers
2.. Begins on ulnar side of hand at ring finger
3.. Isolated Nodule at finger forms
1.. Nodule hardens
2.. Nodule eventually resorbs
4.. Overlying skin adheres to fascia
1.. Strong fibrous cord develops and extends into finger
2.. Cord contracts and pulls finger into flexion

Do you suspect this?
The following is an exerpt from 1915 Hom Med Soc. NY Transactions
Even though the information is regarding the vagaries of multiple sclerosis, I thought it was a good description of how the blue nodules can form - Please note am not suggesting multiple sclerosis is the problem

"The ganglion cells also show signs of degeneration. The result is nodules of bluish-gray color of all sizes, from that of a pin's head, to many times that size, depending on its site. This nodule, on section, either bulges up, or retracts from cell pressure, and is glistening, and by pressure and ischemia, or connective tissue contraction, cuts off tracts of nerve-fibres, although it must be especially remembered that some intact can always be found passing through these nodular masses. Lately there have been found grounds for believing that the process begins in the lymphatics (bruce), and that the thrombosed blood-vessels, which certainly are found in these nodules, are incidental effects of the ruin which has overtaken the nervous tissue. In cases arising from emotion or exhaustion, the nerve-fibres are probably affected initially. These nodules are hard in consistency, and irregular in form, and may be distributed throughout the whole central nervous system, but as a rule they are in the white matter, and do not directly arise in cell areas, but may impinge upon them. As a fact they are most frequent in the dorsal half of the pons and medulla, in the white matter near the periphery of the cord, and the gray matter near the central canal. Frequently the cerebellum is implicated, and the white tracts of the brain may be extensively invaded. This invasion of the nervous system is very gradual, and may take years to become fully expressed in symptoms, and may halt at almost any stage, but my remarks will deal with the history of cases which have reached a stage of full development."
