Hi Rochelle
My past life as a child protection team leader in the social services
catches up with me in this one. They are also know as congenital dermal
melanocytosis and dermal melanocytosis. It is a bluish discoloration in the
skin that children and adolescents develop that often/usually fades within a
few years. The blue marks are often on the base of the spine and the
buttocks - and can be present at birth. Apparently they are common in
newborn babies of southern European, African and Asian descent.

Social workers, in the early days of child protection, often assumed that
they were bruises indicating child abuse, took action against the parents,
and were rather embarrassed by doing so - not least because they were
accused of racial discrimination!

I have never known that any treatment for them, conventional or homeopathic,
is necessary. The assumption I have always had is that there is nothing to
worry about, and they will face in time.

Thanks Steve for that information. This child is a product of ICSI conception which is where one sperm is injected into the egg. He has come to me because of Glue ears. The first lot of grommetts fell out and they are on the waiting list for more so it's a race against time to see what I can do first!! I think this is one "precious" child as the parents seem scared of him!!He hits them, scratches and worst of all which I saw is that he grabs at their skin and won't let go. I distracted him with a drink!! He is 3 does have a good vocabulary but in words rather than sentences. he sounds nasally , like a deaf child. the most striking thing is the big black discolouration under his eyes. I actually gave him Mercury 30 in a split dose because of the saliva pouring from his mouth and the fat that the pillow is wet at night. I thought it went with the aggressiveness I saw. There were other reasons but I can't remember what!! I also gave Kali Mur 6 to take bd for a week. I have had a report from Mum to say that the dark bags seem to be subsiding and his appetite is a lot better. So here's hoping!

Steve has explained most eloquently in a previous post.
