glue-sniffing

Post by Ananda Ruchira »

Hello List,

In January, Abha Light will be embarking on a new aspect of our work -- WE're partnering with some other NGOs in Nairobi and will be giving homeopathic primary health care to street children, particularly those with STDs & HIV.

It will be a very challenging work to say the least. Let's see what will happen. By Cosmic Will & Grace, it will be successful and we can do something for this most abandoned, neglected section of humanity.

Besides every difficulty you could possibly imagine and can't imagine, one of the biggest problems we will see will be the glue-sniffing that most of the children are addicted to.

This problem is a new one for me to tackle. Does anyone have experience to share in this field? possible appropriate Rxs? does anyone know if "glue" has been potentised?

---
Sincerely,
Didi Ananda Rucira

i dont know about glue being potentized but years ago i dealt with young people sniffing glue in a community
where i lived. my very strong feeling is that even if you deal with the glue sniffing, the entire realm of these
kids' lives has to be dealt with. as i am sure you know, the glue sniffing is more a sx of their lives than the
problem itself, even though there are definite consequences of the glue sniffing; ie, brain damage.
good luck

While I will state that I have not dealt with glue sniffing, I have
dealt with a large majority of patients in the city that used butyl
nitrates as a sniffing drug. The butyl-nitrate is a bathtub made
variety of the rx amyl-nitrate which used to be prescribed until
perhaps the mid eighties. It is a cardiac medicine. The Clarke MM
characteristics signify the abuse of the drug substitute. While so
many of these patients were not so serious about maintaining health,
a high dose of amyl-nitrate 1-10M has been dispensed and helped to
clear the lungs and kidney as well as to reduced the desire for the
use of the drug. It is mainly used as a stimulant during sex. Perhaps
it can help your street patients as well.

Didi,

A good description of the toxic effects of inhalants (including glue
sniffing):

Dear Tanya

Thanks for the reply. We are aware of all the other issues surrounding these street children. We are working with other counselling/aid groups in this regard. We are doing the medical side of things.

perhaps you could write me privately or on the list regarding your experience?
