Lollypop Combo - O God help us!

Dear Colleagues

I sometimes despair!

I can NOT see any justification - other than laziness or lack of prescribing
ability (if you can regard these as justification) to resort to using
combinations of remedies.

Please read Org 6 - Aph 3.

There is no way that combos can be prescribed by a 'classical homoeopath'
because one of the pre-requisites of prescribing a remedy is on symptom
similarity which is based on the provings.

I would say to the patient and the student homoeopath please reject this
idea and seek a better qualified homeopath!

Homoeopathy is only safe in well trained hands. Giving combos can lead to
suppression and the case becoming totally confused.

Let us assume the patient feels better after the combo. How does one follow
on?

Where as if you were to prescribe one remedy, even if it did not work, you
have some more clues as to the case.
Some say that combs are usually low potencies so they cannot do much harm.
Read the provings and quite a lot of them are proved with low potencies. In
any case, sadly the pharmacies will produce combos as per demands of the
clients - what the pharmacies will do for commercial reasons (selling good
homoeopathy down the road) is absolutely no justification.

Please do not forget that we must do no harm.

asked Ilana for permission to crosspost, which she
gladly gave in the hope of someone providing good
fact-based arguments against such undertakings.

My "desperate to keep her kids cold free" sister in
law very excitedly showed me her newest purchase. A
"homeopathic??" lolly pop called Kids Cough.. She is
so thrilled because instead of having to describe all
the intricate details of the cold, the cough, the
color of the mucous etc.... she can just give my
little nephew this lolly, which has PUls, Dros,
Spongia, Kali Carb, PHos, IPecac and Belladona all
rolled in one!

I am only a student here, but this doesn't seem right
to me. However, I would like some facts to back my
feeling that this isn't homeopathy.
Any help would be appreciated.
