I am sorry I have to trouble the public forum with this again; those not concerned please skipp this one. - Yesterday I received another private mail by list-member H.Balasubramanian ( dated Thu 10/17 ), in reply to my list post last week concerning a previous empty mail by him entitled "Lac leon.". Again there was no contents visible to me ( but a different title and size this time ). As this has never happened to me before with any mails from others, I know virus guardian dogs to be running all the time, and I had been told by another list-member that that sort of thing had happened before to others, I suspect his system is playing him some trick, which is a pitty for time and effort lost on all sides. Another attempt of the same sort would probably be as fruitless. It is not my habit to give up things easily that may be worth something. Either he could have a look at possible techn. ailments, or, if that makes any difference and is considered worth the effort, try write through the list, if it is not too private for any unknown reason, although the topic seems to have completely dried up otherwise. I appreciate his / your effort, but do not see what else I could do. Regards, Panthera

Re: sorry, again: post from H.Balasubramanian
Hi,
Just to repeat, and possibly simplify / clarify:
A number of viruses that are now in existence
will take all email addresses from the computer they "infect"
and will mail viruses to those addresses
and will take also, randomly selected from those addresses
an address which they will [spoof, forge, enter as false information]
so that it APPEARS that the sender is H.B. or myself or YOU.
It means nothing, except that both your address and H.B.'s were stolen by a
virus.
If you have the capability of viewing the HTML content of such a mail, you
may often see
a little bit of HTML code, which would cause an "unprotected" (by anti-virus
program)
computer to possibly become infected with the virus.
SO: it is a waste of everyone's time & energy to worry over these sorts of
blank emails.
regards,
(p.s. thanks for nice reply re: reductionism)

Dear Panthera & Dave,
As I haven’t opened mails for more than a fortnight,
it is belated reply. I have gone through the
correspondence. Panthera complained of Mysterious
mails from me and Dave suggested that it may be Virus
infection.
Both the mails were genuine from me. There are no
complaints from others to whom I send mail. There is
no infection in my computer, as it is often virus
scanned. I can’t explain to Panthera the cause of the
problem.
The information, which I sent in response to his/her

Dear H.B.,
glad you responded and thereby showed that my
"better-take-various-possibilities-into-account-an
d-rather-waste-time-than-be-unresponding-impolite"-approach
was a good
one.

I was also wandering how reliable his proving results were.
I heard some criticism to this regard. I mean he sure is a very

interesting as well. But how and how carefully does/did he conduct
