Hello Tanya, see how easy is is to go from ADDICTION into PREJUDICE !!!!!!!
Ofcourse I agree with you: there is a lot of PREJUDICE, and not just in the USA. It is all over and widespread. Actually I think it is simply part of life because it is always present whenever a person tries to cope with the world as it is. His/her ego along with the all present lack of selflove ( just check your REPERTORY) will make these persons (I guess myself included) act and behave like they do. The point I trying to make is: Being totally unbiased is utopia. And thus thre will always be some PREJUDICE. I do agree however that it is wise to know this of oneself and to try to be as unbiased as possible.
As to your own experience, I can only try to imagine your frustration and anger on this matter. However, I noticed that whenever one attacks an other on his/her behavior, this person will simply just go on the defensive and no learning or "seeing the light" is achieved. So my suggestion: do not do as they do, but do as it is naturally ( "homoeopathically") done !!!
As to the prejudice against and treatment of women specifically: I challenge every women to get of the MALE -BASED BANDWAGON and claim the place in society which you should rightfully have. I am all for it and will support it in any way I can.

thanks for your note. and i want to respond. i think your note speaks exactly to my point and concern. the issue of prejudice is very alive and well in the homeopathic community and this needs addressing. in my experience, i have seen so much racism, classism, homophobia and or course sexism. it really concerns me. i have seen miasms taught based on debasing poor people. i have seen gay people treated like garbage in clinical workshops. i have seen practitioners treat women abominably in treatment as well as in course work and as colleagues. and i have seen the intense whiteness of the profession and the ignoring of the few people of color who dare to try to participate. this has happened in every experience i have had to date and that includes a span of 10-12 years. the classism that exists and the arrogance coupled with obnoxious individualism is exactly what diminished homeopathy in the usa by the middle of the 20c and is exactly what will destroy it again today.
i think i am very open-minded and have tried to practice tolerance with the level of bias that i run into. the minutus list is a great study for this. i have actually saved a slew of posts that reflect the sexism and bigotry expressed on this list. i believe it is perfectly fair to point out bias when i see it. and i am not the only one. i just read another post by a woman who chided one of the male writers for his nastiness (arrogance and hautiness). her words are a bit softer than mine maybe, but nonetheless clear and direct. this is one of the people who is notoriously obnoxious to so many--especially the women writers.
perhaps you are in a setting which is very homogenous and some of these problems are not noticeable to you. you are right that i have a sore spot with prejudice--my concern is that others do not. and it is their intransigence on the issue that will make them close minded practitioners. what would you say to a practitoner who has a gay person for a pt and decides that there is a moral problem that needs to be changed when the pt comes in with a complaint of, for example, ulcers and clearly is not bothered by their sexuality. or what of the person on minutus who wrote awhile ago during the lengthy discussion about being and 'unprejudiced observer' that he saw it his moral duty to change the mind of a pregnant woman who might want an abortion. i wont go on with the many examples of this kind of behavior. what makes this behavior any different from standard allopathic doctors who think of themselves as gods who have the right to judge who gets better treatment than others and what that treatment is to cure--despite what the pt's input might be.
i appreciate your writing to me, but please notice that i am not the only person on this list who continually expressed these concerns. as a matter of fact it always seems to be women (with one exception, one time) who bring this matter to the fore.
now what does that indicate to you.
regards
