How to sort YahooGroup Archive Topics into new Categories

Post by Peter Walker »

Once a YahooGroup has been migrated to a Forums.Group forum, all the messages can be found in one archive section. The beauty of forums is the ability to have a separate section (category) for each aspect of your group's discussion points. Once you have defined all the categories, we recommend you get together a team of moderators to move the topics into more appropriate sections - Each moderator should choose one or more target sections to move the messages into. Topics related to events can be moved to an Events section, topics related to politics into a Politics section, etc. This will really open up your discussions and make it easier for your members to find answers to their questions, if it has been asked before.

This video explains the process of how to identify and move a topic to another section of the forum. It is an easy job and if mistakes are made, you simply move the topic again until every topic is in the right place.

We are looking for knowledgeable volunteers that can choose a category of their choice and can help go through the YahooGroup archives and move the relevant topics as shown in the above video. The more that help, the faster we can fill all those categories with useful and relevant topics.
It is a useful and rewarding job that helps others to find the answers to their questions much more easily from the hidden treasures locked into your archives. Use the time this forum is quiet, to make a useful and valuable contribution to the group. the job is suitable even for people who otherwise never post and would like to help others learn more about the various aspects of Homeopathy.

You will be given additional moderator privileges that enable you to move topics to the appropriate place. Choose the category of your choice before others do, as we want to give each category to only one moderator who is then responsible for that section. Show your expertise and help to turn that long list of unsorted topics from a chatroom over 20 years into a well sorted reference resources for information on Homeopathy.
