How Existing Members can Login to the Forum

Post by Peter Walker »

We started sending out Emails to all the members with their login details. We have however discovered those passwords were not working. Therefore, please use the following method to login to the forum:

Go to this address and enter the email address you used with the YahooGroup and click on Submit: app.php/user/forgot_password

You will receive an email from the forum that looks like this:

Hello John Smith

You are receiving this notification because you have requested to recover a forgotten password for your account on "Minutus Forum".

To reset your password, please click the link provided below:

The name given after "Hello" is your username (e.g. John Smith).

Now click on the link in the email and you will be taken to a page: “Reset password”

Not enter a new password of your choice. It has to consist of at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter and a number with a minimum length of 6 characters.
For example: Min2020 (Please do not use that exact example)

Type in the same password in the Confirm password field and click on Submit.

You can now login with your Username (John Smith) and Password (Min2020).

That's it, sorry for the confusion

As there is still some confusion as to how to get your Username and Password, I have made this video especially for the Minutus Forum.

https://youtu.be/NNWnIBy6Od0

Let me add a few comments in regards to Usernames and email addresses on the Minutus Forum:
  • Your forum was the first to be migrated and mistakes were made with the user database conversion procedure
  • Members who always used the same name and email address should be able to use the above process to login without problems
  • Those members that changed their email addresses while with YahooGroups or had multiple accounts, will have a user account for each email address
  • Sometimes, just changing the way your name was written resulted in dummy accounts being created on this forum
  • In such cases, your posts may be split amongst the various usernames, according to which account was used to make each post
  • We are aware of the problem and working to merge the accounts - but over 700 accounts have to be manually corrected and this will take some time. It is often difficult to identify which posts belong to whom.
  • If you cannot access your account, please contact us giving your desired Username and all the email addresses you ever used with the YahooGroup and on groups.io - we will then manually consolidate your account for you.
  • Sorry for these problems, we are working on the procedure to prevent this happening with future migrations.
