How exactly does one do this. Read online to put remedy in alcohol only and dropper it on the nose. No water?

Near the nose. You just smell the vapors.

I have also been told you can just sniff above the open remedy bottle, and you control the “dose” by how deep, how close, and how long you sniff.

I’ve only “used” olfaction method one time, and that was by accident. It was with a cow who was unwell and in a snit, needed a repeat of “her” remedy — and declined to even nibble the remedy-water-sprinkled grain I was trying to dose her with. She stalked over, stuck her muzzle into the bucket and gave one derisive sniff and snort, then stalked away — and that turned out to be enough of a dose to do the job beautifully.

So I have decided that, like so many of the procedures and rules we learn, precision is not necessary for effectiveness, though undoubtedly helpful for standardization and frame-of-reference.

Depends on the sensitivity of the patient. You can do it from a sniff from a vial of pillules to a sniff from the MP. I don’t think there are any hard and fast rules
