Hemochromatosis

Post by Maria Bohle »

Does anyone have any successes that you know of for Hemochromatosis?

I just learned the most interesting information about this disorder. This as told to me by the wife of a person who has this 'disease'. She and her husband saw a specialist who has been studying this and the specialist said it had links to the Irish Potato Famine. It seems that meats and iron containing foods were so scarce that people started holding onto their iron reserves. Thus when these descendants were fed a normal diet that they conserved all the iron that they got.

The solution is 'bleeding' these people by taking out blood on a regular basis.

Any thoughts?

Warmly, Maria

Interesting. I assume that would have been far too short a timeframe to have caused much in the way of genetic change, but perhaps epigenetic change, similar to the generational effects of famine and trauma?

In that case it ought (?) to be reversible (?) ?

I've heard something similar about the development of diabetes. That in populations who worked harder than most, ran long distances, and had lack of adequate food; that once conditions improved for future generations the offspring had higher tendency for diabetes.

Hi Maria,

I treated this for my aunt using Pulsatilla. Her case was very clear. The mentals and the physicals all pointed to the curative remedy. The strange part about it is after she took the remedy for about a year, she said that she didn’t have to have her blood taken out anymore. She was In her late 80s at that time, so forgetting what she was doing before was normal.

She was a career nurse, so she understood biological phenomenon quite well. And, she could talk about it. Also, she understood what Allopathy does well enough to be systematically avoiding it while using it in the rare condition of her blood excess hemoglobin.

Maybe she was getting too old to produce too many red blood cells. Except, she seemed extremely healthy and aware. She had a very active life socially and physically. She still contacts me on her iPad and I expect to see her next month. So she’s totally there at 90+.

My father’s mother processed vegetables living on the side of the fields. The family ate whatever vegetable was in season. If they were processing eggplants, they ate only eggplants. It wasn’t as bad as the Irish potato famine, because they actually could go to the grocery store. But with five children and no income from an adult male, they were extremely poor. So perhaps they qualify for the situation you’re talking about.

I was told by my aunt that her condition was hereditary. The effect of the remedy suggested to me that this is not the case.

Best,
Ellen

Hi Ellen, thank you for this information. Again homeopathy is certainly amazing.

Back to out cardinal objective- symptom totality. ?

I appreciate your sharing it with me.

Hi,
Very interesting that Pulsatilla would clear Hemochromatosis. It shouldn't be surprising to us that homoeopathy could clear miasmatic expression of genetics.

Hemochromatosis is a genetically acquired issue. You can be heterozygous or homozygous. Obviously homozygous is going to cause more issues. The famine effect would be that people with the gene to hold onto iron would be advantaged during famine periods and live to pass on the gene to their offspring. Those without it more likely to die. The epigenetic effect would probably also be activated during famine switching genes on and off to favour survival in specific circumstances. Its all about survival - making sure life gets passed on. Many of our health problems today would come from the fact that in times of famine, hardship, war, etc. ongoing life really is all about the survival of the fittest - many populations haven't been bred for happiness and plenty, but to survive hardships. The ability to survive through sufferings is genetically/epigenetically selected for. During times of happiness and plenty we don't do well and find other ways to suffer.

An interesting combination of genes is to have hemochromatosis and haemophilia both active - a chance they can cancel each other out.

When the body holds onto iron it stores it in the liver and heart, where the high levels cause ongoing damage. Women are usually protected until they hit menopause and stop bleeding regularly. From a practical point of view, without the benefit of homoeopathy people use strategies that are the opposite to those used by people who tend to anaemia. For example avoiding vitamin C with iron containing foods. Using phytates from grains to prevent iron absorption. Using other things to prevent iron absorption eg, other minerals like zinc, calcium and selenium, drinking coffee and tea, especially green tea. And also using liver protective supplements like Milk Thistle.

Hi I have treated this before – and seem to remember that it was Ferr Sulph for that particular person who had almost full remission.
I have also helped people with it – by getting them to do the opposite of what is recommended for anaemia

Ie avoid Vit C in any form (foods or drinks or supplements) at or near meals where there is iron rich foods

Drink black tea with any iron rich foods as it impedes the up take quite considerably (coffee and green tea will also but not as greaty as black tea

Don’t eat green leafy veges with iron rich meats as the meat increases the uptake of iron from the veges
This cut down the number of time they had to give blood quite a bit and in one stopped the need altogether but must say he took it on board really well and was pretty anal about watching what he was doing as he had a needle phobia dn would do anything not to have blood taken.
Plus gave their constitutional remedies if they were patients which helped with the symptoms – the others were friends and I wasn’t treating them as a client – just gave info
Also Turmeric can lower ferritin by chelating iron from the body. Turmeric has numerous health benefits, including reducing iron overload and there is research to back this
