squash vine borers

Post by Tanya Marquette »

Forgot who asked the other day so hope they see this.

Found my remedy list for garden problems.
Ricinus has worked for squash vine borers.
Apply as soon after planting as possible, about 1/2 cup of the dilution to the roots of the plant.

I find remedies work for about 2-3 months in the garden.

I also use Kaviraj's protocol of diluting about 50-100 of pellets in a Quart of water, succuss 50x, and then

dilute to make 5 gallons. If you have only a few plants, do a proportionate amount of pellets to whatever

amount of liquid remedy you need.

Isn't that an awful lot of pellets?

Repeating myself, this was Kaviraj's protocol and remember it is for 5 gallons of water.

If you wanted to try using less pellets, feel free to do so. There are no gardening police.

Maria, et al

Kavi was an incredible man. He was Dutch but lived in Australia for many years researching the use of
homeopathy with plants. He was literally burned out, after many other attempts to put him out of business

with legal maneuverings, with losing much of his research documents. He wrote the first book on homeopathy
and farming/gardening and later put out a second edition shortly before he transitioned about 3 yrs ago.
I had been in touch with him via ARH-plants for some time and have several posts from him dealing with my

individual garden problems. These posts are part of that groups online archives. Some of his writing is
archived in Homeopathy Plus online magazine and I send a link from that site:

http://homeopathyplus.com/from-hippy-to ... s-kaviraj/
Homeopathy Plus still runs a column on agrohomeopathy.
Kavi was an incredibly sharp and sharing person. I did watch some video's of him doing workshops in Africa

which were fascinating. They may be available on Youtube.
Despite never meeting him in person, he was someone whose life mirrored some of mine such as his time

in Woodstock, NY and the Magic Bus was well known and loved by many of my generation who wandered
with little money but great interest in the world around. I still miss him.

Just as a materia medica study for me, what about rincus do we see that makes it a good candidate for this?

As a farmer, we know the Castor Oil plant as a deadly poison. Castor beans are put into mole hills to eliminate the mouse like vole (a short tailed kind of mouse) that eats plants. The mole itself only eats bugs, worms, slugs, and other delectable insects.

One bite of the castor bean will kill quickly.

Do not know why it would work for the squash bore, but in my opinion it is well worth a try. My seeds were planted a couple of days ago, and as soon as they germinate i will be giving them their first dose of this remedy aqueously.
Warmly, Maria

Thanks for that insight Maria, While I am not a farmer, this is interesting to think about. I hope you will post any results.

According to Kaviraj's Materia Medica

Ricinus--as Maria noted is good for vine mites, pests, scale.

Kavi lists pests in cucurbitae which includes squash.

He then goes on to talk about the leaves are known to affect the breast and generative organs

so he posits it will be good for flowers and fruits on plants. Provings bear this out with the squash vine borer.

He then finishes by noting high doses/potencies on vermifuges can be detrimental to the host animal and
should be used with caution.
