Buy Kent Repertory?

I would look on eBay. Also, I would not buy a Kent repertory as they are so outdated and list only remedies that were known up to about 1910. You would be better off directing your money to a modern repertory such as the Complete Repertory, 2010 edition or later if they are available. I have found that Murphy's is pretty good also. There are others available that some people like. I threw my Kent's away years ago as there was nothing in it that had not been surpassed by other works long before.

Agree with Allen, about Kent being outdated.
Complete Dynamics might be an even better option, but it should be
handled with care (as always, with everything).

I have been using Robin Murphy’s Repertory for over 15 years, I am getting a new one because duct tape can no longer fix the poor old book. I am going to miss all my notes in the old book. I don’t think you will be disappointed with it.

For a first repertory for an intermediate level beginner like myself, it has been suggested to me to start with a Kent Repertory. I have read very good reviews about Robin Murphy's Repertory, too and that quite likely will be a future purchase. I respect Kent's work and Repertory. Yes, the publisher is B Jain. (It's listed on Amazon.) The paper weight is NOT tissue paper thin. I didn't have any problem reading the type. It is a 1994 edition.

There are some handwritten notations and references on some pages.
For example: STOOL: lienteric ( handwritten: undigested food) or THROAT: scraping ( handwritten: larynx, trachea, scraping, clearing p.756)
This was before computer reps.

The mishap with the cover happened when I was trying to get the book to lay flat. I pushed a little too hard and part of the cover came loose. The good news is, it lays flat.

Other than the above two items, the book is in good condition.

Debra, I have a 2001 B. Jain edition of Kent's repertory, large-print on Bible paper, with index. It's pristine.

This is one of many books given me by a friend who briefly pursued an interest in homeopathy. Among others there's Boericke's Materia Medica with Repertory, Allen's Keynotes and Characteristics, Grandgeorge's The Spirit of Homeopathic Medicines, and Ramakrishnan's An Homeopathic Approach to Cancer.

These duplicate books already in my library, otherwise I would not be offering them.

Yes, Kent is outdated, at least as to its selection of remedies, which makes it almost useless for a practitioner. But for a student of homeopathy, it's still a great book for studying rubrics and homeopathic principles of organization. Murphy's repertory is fine for practitioners, but it's organized alphabetically and its principles of organization are not always clear or consistent. Using Murphy's, without being grounded in a repertory liike Kent's, makes it more difficult to transition to computerized reps, which are organized along Kentian lines.

Don't forget the free Complete Repertory from Roger van Zandvoort available on their website available for pc as well as android . I have it on my win7 laptop and my Samsung note 3 . Works wonderfully as a rep reference .
