Dear David,
In a constitutional picture, health and disease are two sides of the same coin.
Having a constitution, an individuality does'n mean there are also symptoms.
A human is not the product of heredity, illness and traumata, nor the product of education and cultural, social influences, nor a combination of both views. This individuality puts his stamp on other existential parts: mental/ emotional/ physical level.
A human is a growing evolving being, that finally constructs its individual body
Also in health the characteristics can be recognized precisely, you must look how the individual reaction is under pressure.
Ofcourse you can make a subdivision of four or five catagories if you like, but if you look much precise, you can tell much more about the nature of the constitution.
I give an example of Suphur in health: "The integrity of intellectual faculty and higher centers of brain are intact. He has a clear perception, understanding and interpretation. His memory is sharp like a computer. Thinking is logical, active and systematic. He takes correct decision. He loves to do repairing works. He always has creative thoughts. Disposed to literary work. He is an accumulator. His writings are scholery and monumental work, each line of page is informative, he wants to be leader in a group, organisation, plans etc"
But the other side: "In disease initially physical complaints starts after the disturbance at intellectual level, then they have altered action and behavior" He has a faultfinding nature, lazy, brilliant person but poor performance etc."
hindsight after the remedy has cured the symptoms present?
Yes, but after the symptoms are cured the 'healthy' characteristics stay, so this is the healthy constitutional side.

Hello Piet,
faculty and higher centers of brain are >intact. He has a clear perception,
understanding and interpretation. His memory is sharp like a computer.
loves to do repairing works. He >always has creative thoughts. Disposed to
literary work. He is an accumulator. His writings are scholery >and
monumental work, each line of page is informative, he wants to be leader in

But what makes this person Sulphur? How different would this be from other
remedies like a Nux vom (if using the same "healthy" analogy and
description)?
the disturbance at intellectual level, >then they have altered action and
behavior" He has a faultfinding nature, lazy, brilliant person but poor
Now in this case, if the rest fits, a "healthy" Sulphur would be one who can
throw the disturbance to the exterior, as we know with Sulphur. i.e. the
Sulphur with strong VF.
When we talk of a "healthy" remedy type, isn't it usually a case that the
healthy state is the one in between the development of pathology, but where
the (usually) mental personality is there, i.e. as in your follow up
presentation with laziness etc. I don't know of Sulphurs that weren't
usuaully either lazy, philosophically critical, etc.

David,
You mentioned in your last mail , which i just accidently deleted, that no
one is without symptoms and that only the soul is symptom free , or
something close to that. I agree most heartly. I would put a little
different spin on the thread of thought here. In my limited exerience i have
seen in the dying and seriously ill, a homeopathic picture that entails many
equal remedies with none really strongly defined. Couple these experiences
with the fundamenytal definition of the Constitutional state as our
predisposition to disease - then in our ex. Sulphur - the sulphur
cocnstitution is not what we are but what we are not. I say it this way,
since this state predisposes us to disease, then it must represent our
weakest energy level not strongest. Then are we not a composite of all
energy states, all vibrating at the highest possible level to protect
ourselves. The weakest (energy) ones on the other hand represent our
greatest states of susceptability and predispositions, due to their lower
energy levels. It is these levels or states that is what is conventionally
called our constitutional state.
So in the very serious illness's and near death states the panoramic range
of all remedies and their weakend energies tend to equate to eachother
manifested in the totallity of symptoms. Conversely, in the healthy person
with a disorder, the symptom picture is much more clearly defined directing
us to a selected remedy.

I would say that constitution is what "we are always", but this may change in appearance (or indeed the whole state may mutate, but we have to limit our discussion in some way, and for now, deal with, for example, a person who exhibits a stable constitution -does not mutate to other remedies in toto (this itself may be actually a theoretical entity, but saying it can be that stable in some cases keeps the target of this discussion from moving))).. It could be said that he Sulphur before he needs the sulphur (sulphur waiting to happen) still has a sulphur susceptibility, it just
has not yet been triggered. In this light, it is also possible to offer the possibility that the "healthy" constitution could not be what "we are not", but (see if you like this couching of it)- the remedy state that is prescribable in more its "blueprint form" and having mostly psychological and morphological indicators rather than symptomatic ones. .The remedy does "act" on this blueprint form, (although this statement might have to be anchored mostly in behavioral result). The remedy for the "blueprint of possible disease which might eventually get the person to see a
homeopath but has not yet manifested in disagreeable enough symptoms" will still have effects on the fate of the person. Receiving a remedy without "complaints" or "illness", it is not known what we are altering via symptom change, but only if we see the "life path" veer suddenly, if subtly. So it would be my view that while we may be unwise to speak "as if definitively" about a constitutional type (or "pattern of symptoms" that has never been prescribed for with a response which we could call "curative", we *can* say that the later manifestation is present in latent form, in
the same pattern, in the pre-consultation, "non-complaining" individual. It is not all that common to be called to give remedies in such situations, or to follow the result.
Those near death or very ill may have such a weak vital force that it does not provide a signature with significat "peaks", so does not point to an agent in our repetoire of correlatives. It may be (not) that the state at beginning or end is "neutral" , only difficult to note, but for different reasons; beginning: not enough indications because organism is not obviously sputtering in any way-have to use subtle behavioral or situational factors as clues which are *there*, just not troublesome to the person yet (may be very difficult or impossible to find the remedy); end:
organism little vital energy left to muster sputtering (ie symptomology)-similarly must go on subtle indications or past history information-also very difficult sometimes.
To ramble a bit more on this idea of constitutional typology, R. Sankaran has an interesting theory (offered not because of attachment, but interest). If I can thumbnail it from memory-(one of his early 90's books)-he discusses a "coped-up" state of remedy typology -one compensate for in areas felt susceptible. (Sidebar: this would relate to astrological saturn placement, to bring in another system). So, what he calls a "coped up" state is a healthy constitution somewhat masked by its own psychic efforts to correct its own perceived deficiencies. The compensations are not
reflections of the true remedy state, but work to mask at least some of it, since otherwise, behavior would be quite different, perhaps the opposite of the compensatory behaviors (which is what we see in the ill individual). Sankaran makes the interesting statement that as long as a *reflection* of the susceptibility (which is the core of our non-theoretical typology) is present in the environment, then we forestall somatization of the illness. He gave an example in a seminar: A violent person (say a stram) finds an outlet for his inner violence by watching violent TV
programs. If that is not available, he must find an outlet for the inner violence, either by acting it out for real, or since this is strongly discouraged by morality, somatizing it as an illness. (Note that this is quite a different viewpoint than those who say the watching of the TV violence is causative of heightened violence in society).
This compensatory mechanism he posits, that "looks" for its reflection outside of itself, or gets "sick" makes the interposed homeopathic remedy a "substitute reflection", but one not only experienced externally, but presented internally directly to the organism. The internal resonance of the proper simillimum removes both the "yearning for reflection" (which we could call the susceptibility, and also one of the drivers of that person's fate); *and* stimulates removal or rehabilitation, insofar as is possible, of the "somatization", in some cases even "ultimates" or severe
pathological changes in tissue.
So, this is a lot of rambling for philosophical types, and we are in territory that might be said by some to be that vitiated by paragraph 1-2 of Organon. However, there is a time for everything; for example, even 1843 was perhaps not a time to get into classification of the kingdoms of remedies in a more detailed way than had already been done. But clearly now such classifications, and other philosophical theorizations, by providing further thematic information, have opened up materia medica that has been missed (resulting in uncured sick).. Evolution with maintenance of
principle, and discriminative use of technique, are keys to keeping overlain classification systems or theory from being paragraph 1-2 items (i.e. ineffective empirically and thus irrelevant)..
A cornerstone of scientific method is the testing of the hypothesis. What we are discussing here ( pre-consultation "healthy" constitutions) is subtle, and not easy to test. However, it seems almost a truism that, in a stable case, the same blueprint is there before what triggers its more poignant excursion into discomfort or morbidity.

seen in the dying and seriously ill, a homeopathic picture that entails
many
equal remedies with none really strongly defined. Couple these
experiences
with the fundamenytal definition of the Constitutional state as our
predisposition to disease - then in our ex. Sulphur - the sulphur
cocnstitution is not what we are but what
we are not.
I would say that constitution is what "we are always", but this may
change in appearance (or indeed the whole state may
mutate, but we have to limit our discussion in some way, and for now,
deal with, for example, a person who exhibits a
stable constitution -does not mutate to other remedies in toto (this
itself may be actually a theoretical entity, but saying it
can be that stable in some cases keeps the target of this discussion
from moving))).. It could be said that he Sulphur
before he needs the sulphur (sulphur waiting to happen) still has a
sulphur susceptibility, it just
has not yet been triggered. In this light, it is also possible to offer
the possibility that the "healthy" constitution could
not be what "we are not", but (see if you like this couching of it)- the
remedy state that is prescribable in more its
"blueprint form" and having mostly psychological and morphological
indicators rather than symptomatic ones. .The
remedy does "act" on this blueprint form, (although this statement might
have to be anchored mostly in behavioral
result). The remedy for the "blueprint of possible disease which might
eventually get the person to see a
homeopath but has not yet manifested in disagreeable enough symptoms"
will still have effects on the fate of the person. Receiving a remedy
without "complaints" or "illness", it is not known what we are altering
via symptom change,
but only if we see the "life path" veer suddenly, if subtly. So it would
be my view that while we may be unwise to speak
"as if definitively" about a constitutional type (or "pattern of
symptoms" that has never been prescribed for with a
response which we could call "curative", we *can* say that the later
manifestation is present in latent form, in
the same pattern, in the pre-consultation, "non-complaining"
individual. It is not all that common to be called to give
remedies in such situations, or to follow the result.
Those near death or very ill may have such a weak vital force that it
does not provide a signature with significat "peaks",
so does not point to an agent in our repetoire of correlatives. It may
be (not) that the state at beginning or end is
"neutral" , only difficult to note, but for different reasons;
beginning: not enough indications because organism is not
obviously sputtering in any way-have to use subtle behavioral or
situational factors as clues which are *there*, just not
troublesome to the person yet (may be very difficult or impossible to
find the remedy); end:
organism little vital energy left to muster sputtering (ie
symptomology)-similarly must go on subtle indications or past
history information-also very difficult sometimes.
To ramble a bit more on this idea of constitutional typology, R.
Sankaran has an interesting theory (offered not because
of attachment, but interest). If I can thumbnail it from memory-(one of
his early 90's books)-he discusses a "coped-up"
state of remedy typology -one compensate for in areas felt susceptible.
(Sidebar: this would relate to astrological saturn
placement, to bring in another system). So, what he calls a "coped up"
state is a healthy constitution somewhat masked
by its own psychic efforts to correct its own perceived deficiencies.
The compensations are not
reflections of the true remedy state, but work to mask at least some of
it, since otherwise, behavior would be quite
different, perhaps the opposite of the compensatory behaviors (which is
what we see in the ill individual). Sankaran
makes the interesting statement that as long as a *reflection* of the
susceptibility (which is the core of our
non-theoretical typology) is present in the environment, then we
forestall somatization of the illness. He gave an
example in a seminar: A violent person (say a stram) finds an outlet for
his inner violence by watching violent TV
programs. If that is not available, he must find an outlet for the
inner violence, either by acting it out for real, or since
this is strongly discouraged by morality, somatizing it as an illness.
(Note that this is quite a different viewpoint than
those who say the watching of the TV violence is causative of heightened
violence in society).
This compensatory mechanism he posits, that "looks" for its reflection
outside of itself, or gets "sick" makes the
interposed homeopathic remedy a "substitute reflection", but one not
only experienced externally, but presented
internally directly to the organism. The internal resonance of the
proper simillimum removes both the "yearning for
reflection" (which we could call the susceptibility, and also one of the
drivers of that person's fate); *and* stimulates
removal or rehabilitation, insofar as is possible, of the
"somatization", in some cases even "ultimates" or severe
pathological changes in tissue.
So, this is a lot of rambling for philosophical types, and we are in
territory that might be said by some to be that vitiated
by paragraph 1-2 of Organon. However, there is a time for everything;
for example, even 1843 was perhaps not a time
to get into classification of the kingdoms of remedies in a more
detailed way than had already been done. But clearly
now such classifications, and other philosophical theorizations, by
providing further thematic information, have opened
up materia medica that has been missed (resulting in uncured sick)..
Evolution with maintenance of
principle, and discriminative use of technique, are keys to keeping
overlain classification systems or theory from being
paragraph 1-2 items (i.e. ineffective empirically and thus irrelevant)..
A cornerstone of scientific method is the testing of the hypothesis.
What we are discussing here ( pre-consultation
"healthy" constitutions) is subtle, and not easy to test. However, it
seems almost a truism that, in a stable case, the same
blueprint is there before what triggers its more poignant excursion into
discomfort or morbidity.

That's a great 2 cents worth - just think what $1 would buy.

Yes - there is work going on with auras and their colours - I believe this
may be a worthwhile starting point in studying auras and measuring colour
wavelengths in
obtaining emperical data - but then whose to fund such activity ?
